Coachella 2009 Lineup

Pretty amazing that The Killers can share a bill with one of the greatest musicians of all time Paul McCartney, but that's show business huh? they didn't seem to be that big when they headlined Echo Project, it seems like their status is being elevated by some perceived importance by Coachella. The Cure is good news, following in the Coachella tradition of having band reunite at their festival. Paul would really impress me if he decided to do Bonnaroo and that rebel streak he has makes me think it may just happen. It seems like Michael Franti despite being and indie name somehow manages to get on every festival bill ever.

Allman Brothers Beacon 40th Anniversary Eric Clapton

"The road goes on forever." If you look at all the current incarnations of The Allman Brothers Band and where they are at today, it has becomes apparent that their music has grown to become a community and a cultural institution. It is more than whoever is in the band at the time, it is about some of the greatest blues musicians in the world getting together and making the very best music they can produce together with no compromises. It was a rainy night in New York City and the band was all business, determined to give a near flawless show that would go down in history.

March 26, 2009 was the official 40th anniversary of the Allman Brothers and the 20th anniversary of their first show at the Beacon. 40 years to the day from the first jam session with the original Allman Brothers lineup that sounded so good Duane was quoted as saying "no one gets out here alive!" Since then the band continues to evolve and stay contemporary, through hard work, dedication and ingenuity. Everyone knew this day was going to be special, and the band brought it "Back to Where It All Begins," by celebrating the music of Duane Allman (I'll only quote a song once more). While decades have passed, the band was able to create their original, youthful sound, performing their first two albums in their entirety.

This show was all about The Allman Brothers and there were "no special guests," as was announced by drummer Butch Trucks. Trucks wears many hats and is also a Rhodes scholar, intellectual and internet entrepreneur/fan liaison. There were rumors Dickey was invited, but when the curtain rose and he wasn't there I was pretty sure it wouldn't happen. Though disappointed, I was so absorbed in the music I did not give it a second thought. A fan can always hope for an onstage reunion somewhere down the road, but personal issues mean personal. The group seemed to be freed up to play by not having to tend to a special guest. This current lineup, is one of the tightest and talented versions of the Allman Brothers, and having just them here giving 110% made it a legendary night.

While the Duane Allman penned tune `Little Martha' was the opener for the majority of the Beacon run, the band started the show a little after 8:00 with "Don't Want You No More" and followed it up with "Not My Cross to Bear" (the first two songs off their first album The Allman Brothers Band). Next was "Black Hearted Women" which included an "Other one Tease," and had Derek Trucks already channeling Duane, hitting his licks note for note. Up next came "Trouble No More," followed by "Every Hungry Women" which had Warren teasing "Foxy Lady" on his signature Gibson reissue of Duane's Hot Lanta Guitar. Derek maintained a dominant lead position on these songs, strongly representing the next generation's voice of this band. His leadership and talent proved that the Allmans are not only something that happened, but continue to innovate with rocks youngest legendary guitar players.

"Dreams" and "Whipping Post" were the two songs everyone was waiting for and really brought back the original Allman Brothers atmosphere. "Dreams" had Warren and Derek trading solos back and forth, playing phrases right off the original album. They played "Whipping Post" with the same dark attitude that made the song such a groundbreaking rock piece, and brought back the classic At Fillmore East sound. Gregg's voice was incredibly youthful, with some of his most soulful Hammond B3 playing yet. He appeared slightly more pale then usual at times, though this was likely due to the strenuous demand of a 15 night run, of full tilt rock shows.

Intermission was taken and there were some advertisements on the big screen promoting various aspects of the Allman Brothers empire, one thing is for sure, the Allman Brothers Band runs like a well oiled machine, and they do what it takes to keep it functioning at "peak" performance. Their business is one with ethics that gives many people a decent, satisfying living, this kind of alternative, fair capitalism is obviously good for the economy and it's time may have come.

The second set began with "Revival" the first song off of their second album and included a "Mountain Jam" tease by Derek. Oteil Burbridge's Bass lines were really holding it down, keeping it to the original songs and giving room for the guitars to go off and explore new territory. Butch Trucks was thoroughly enjoying himself, motivating and steady, Jaimoe was giving all his energy and meant business while Marc Quiñones was tightly focused. After a very funky Duane inspired "Don't Keep me Wonderin,'" Gregg and Warren sang a sweet duet of "Midnight Rider." This was followed with "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" one of the many Dickey Betts originals, written in memorandum of a name on a gravestone Betts used to sit down and make out with his girlfriend by. Though there was no mention of Dickey the whole run, I felt that Warren was paying homage to him by quoting some of his verses in his guitar playing. On "Liz Reed" Oteil broke out his six string bass, and the rest of the band stepped back as he took the lead. He broke out his Oteil and The Peacemakers act and started scatting and playing the bass like a jazz guitarist. Burbridge mixed into this unique solo, hypnotic and surreal noises on the bass's deep end, creating a voice all his own. Burbridge then hopped on a drum kit and played his heart out with the power trio of Jaimoe, Quiñones and Trucks, seeing a collaboration of four drummers each on a full kit is not something at all ordinary and proved that The Allmans are at their very best with just the band.

"Liz Reed" went straight into "Hoochie Coochie" man the only cover song on the Idlewild South album. The band then played an emotional "Please Call Home," a great but underplayed song, this impressive, rare performance alone made the show a historic moment for the band. The last song of the Album "Leave my Blues at Home" ended at around 11:30, leaving the band just enough time for the encore "Statesboro Blues."
"Statesboro" had some minor mistakes with certain verses that were audible only to the diehard fans, but the band was able to laugh it off. This imperfection shows the human nature of a superhuman sounding band, adding a layer of depth. At the end of the song, Gregg said "thank you so much, come back tomorrow night and we'll have more mistakes for you," a really funny moment, Warren then went over and hugged him and the lights dimmed, revealing the massive number of seated and standing guests backstage, a separate audience of middle aged people, dressed mostly in suits and ties, with a few kids running around. This reflected a more formal looking version of the greater audience, which was mostly middle aged men, some who had brought their kids. There is a strict no drugs/drinking rule backstage at Allman Brothers shows, which creates a healthy, family friendly environment throughout the venue. On the contrary the energy was not uptight, but a clean, earthy, high that the Allman Brothers have become a symbol for.

One may come to wonder why this rural southern rock band draped with symbols of Peaches and Mushrooms has such a close tie to New York City, the story is long but can be summed up with the fact that New Yorkers have high standards and like good music, this synergy between southern comfort and big city living is what brought the band to the heights they are at today. Growing up in the greater NYC area, I have witnessed many different personalities embracing the Allman Brothers, once we hit high school it was like a rite of passage into musical appreciation, even the jocks used to sell Beacon tickets at fundraisers. This band has had a significant impact on every generation since the late 60's, due to their tenacious spirit to stay on top of their game and not become a nostalgia act. From the Swedish travelers who waited twenty years to finally see the group live at the Beacon to the biker security guard who schooled me to some Allman Brothers history, it was evident how much this music meant to so many people.

The recognition that Warren Haynes and now Derek trucks have received in popular music creates a link to the new generation, allowing young people to experience this level of the blues which celebrates the best melodic, flat-picking and slide guitar collaborations. Though the flat-picking influence has been phased out with the loss of Dickey Betts, he still continues the ABB tradition by playing his songs in Dickey Betts and Great Southern. This is just an example of The ABB's motivation to do whatever it takes to keep their music (and brand) alive and strong.

After the show let out, I collected my cool 3/16/09 commemorative poster, and spilled out onto the streets of Manhattan with the rest of the crowd. I took a trip downtown to check out some of Eric Krasno and Chapter 2 at Sullivan Hall. The after party was billed as having "very special guests" and word was that Derek would show up, I caught a couple funky songs then moved on as that would not have gone down until well into the A.M.
Though this Beacon run was dedicated to Duane Allman, the show was just as much about his brother Gregg - the band patriarch. It was well know by the cancellation of last years' Beacon Run that Gregg was battling Hepatitis C. and to see him come back after treatment so strong was very special. The power and soul behind Gregg's voice was truly "hittin' the note," almost to the point where he looked divinely inspired. Only on this night of the show was Gregg's long hair down, looking like the days when two blonde, brothers from the south, were some of the first to play in an integrated band, bringing two worlds together in music. I appreciated seeing Gregg at his best more than anything else. He is truly reaching new depths in his singing, and we are lucky that he is touring this year to share it. He is a living legend, carrying on his bands legacy of tolerance, quality blues music and long honest work.

RECORD INDUSTRY VETERAN SHAWN KILMURRAY NAMED TO LEAD ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP ROCK THE EARTH

January 21, 2009 - Denver non-profit, Rock the Earth, has announced that they have selected music industry veteran Shawn Kilmurray to serve as its new Executive Director. Together with the support of Rock the Earth's Board of Directors, he will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the organization as well as raising brand profile, diversifying sources of funding and developing strategic alliances. Mr. Kilmurray joins Rock the Earth after nearly two-decades in the recording industry. He has held senior Marketing, Production and Operations roles at Sony BMG, Universal and Warner Music, and is a voting member of numerous industry professional organizations. Active in the music community, Mr. Kilmurray will seek to expand RtE partnerships with artists and other music-related entities. Kilmurray shared "While the record business is currently undergoing tremendous change, a new day has dawned in this country and people recognize what can be accomplished when we work together. My challenge is to create synergistic opportunities to involve artists and the music industry at-large to increase environmental awareness that educates and inspires fans and artists alike to take action and produce quantifiable results on important values-driven environmental issues that directly impact our lives, our children's lives and their children's lives." On the selection of Mr. Kilmurray as Executive Director, John Fleckenstein, Senior Vice President at BMG Label Group notes, "I've had the pleasure of working with Shawn frequently over the years; he's a passionate music guy with deep contacts in the industry. I cannot think of a better fit for Rock the Earth. I have no doubt he'll prove to be a tremendous asset to them." Having crossed paths with each other last summer while actively involved with the Obama campaign, founder Marc Ross looks forward to the future of the organization with Kilmurray as Executive Director. "All of us in Rock the Earth are very excited about the addition of Shawn Kilmurray as our new Executive Director. It is our belief that given his passion for the environment as well as his management experience and deep connections within the music industry, Shawn will be able to elevate Rock the Earth to the next level in our goal to become the pre-eminent environmental advocacy organization working with the music community." Enthusiastic about the opportunity, Kilmurray explains, "I am delighted to be asked to lead the organization at what is a critical time for the global environment. Whether it's climate change, chemicals in our food, water issues, deforestation, air pollution, extinction of species or the lack of government action, few of us truly take ownership and act on these issues, foolishly believing others will do it for us. Music has the power to open the heart and touch the soul. Artists have always been at the forefront of social change so they understand the importance of taking action. My objective is to develop collaborative alliances with those members of the music community dedicated to the pursuit of environmental solutions. " Supporting renewable energy, reducing dependency on fossil fuels, sustainability, widespread recycling and increased responsiveness, Shawn Kilmurray and Rock the Earth will continue to promote activism that produces clear-cut results. Bill Sondheim, President of Entertainment and Worldwide Distribution at Gaiam, Inc. reflects on his professional relationship with Kilmurray, "I have known Shawn in various music positions over the last fifteen years. During that time he has consistently demonstrated an ability to balance creative integrity with strong fiscal results. At this critical time when our planet is in peril, I rest easier knowing that he will bring that same passion and intelligence to this worthy cause."

Color War Teams

Orange - The original champions. New leadership. Gung ho on winning again. Always a force to be reckoned with, they dominate a lot of sleeper events. Nuff Said.
Green - Winners of 2006 Color War, and a close second every other year. TONS of girls on this team. (HINT - They need some guys. Big strong ones so they don't get decimated in tug-of-war.)
Yellow - By far the most team spirit out there. Notorious shit-talkers. Headed up by Yancy "Mr. Color War" Davis and Amber Toot. They haven't won yet, but they always have some tricks up the sleeve. They're due.
Purple - Last year's Champs, and always the LOUDEST. Double the captains of any other team. Returning captains Mike and Tara know the sweet taste of victory, and the bitterness of close defeat. For some reason, they always seem to have a megaphone.

complete listing of summer festivals 09

Here is an article wrote in 2007 on the venue ILCC and though i had one of the official ILCC staff correct me (not educate me thank god!), they let me know i had some facts a little skewed and i though I am too lazy to fix.
Indian Lookout Country Club (site of camp bisco)
Growing up in New York City, I heard of music festivals that went on upstate at a campground called Indian Lookout Country Club (ILCC). Little did I know this was also home to “The Harley Davidson Rendezvous,” a motorcycle gathering that attracts bikers near and far. In my senior year of high school my friends and I packed our bags to go up to Indian Lookout Country Club to hear some music. Little did we know we were about to enter a different world, an autonomous state within a state, where bikers on ATVs were in charge, rather than the police. It is a place where yuppies and pacifists would look to Bikers and Hell’s Angels for safety. Interestingly enough, there has never been a violent incident involving a weapon, or even a fist fight. Everyone seems too scared of getting tackled by one of the 200 pound Hell’s Angels who have a presence at the campground. Since the 1960’s the Hells Angels have gained a reputation for running security for famous counter culture rock bands. This has lead to the musical “hippy” counterculture becoming engrained with biker culture. The sense of peace felt at the ILCC was stronger than anywhere else I have ever been and contrasted to other festivals such as “Woodstock Two,” where someone got stabbed, or another similar style music festival, where someone got pistol whipped. At ILCC the bikers take the place of the police presence, selectively enforcing security limited to only violent or dangerous crimes. This creates a sense of physical safety and at the same time encourages personal freedom rarely found anywhere else. I did not know at the time that this sense of civil liberties is a deep part of biker culture.
At the gate to the festival the security was tight and the searches thorough. This is an essential part of keeping the festival safe. Word has it staff have found everything from spiked bats to handguns. Though stories circulate of being hassled by bikers on Harley motorcycles or ATV’s, the feeling I got and the general consensus is that as long as you abide by the “law of that land”, which basically states “be peaceful and no glass,” then no one will bother you. The biker motto "Live and let live" is reflected in the feel of the campground in which a sort of peaceful anarchy takes place, where pacifist music fans and bikers coexist in a peaceful symbiosis. This is what one anonymous ILLC staff says about what it means to be a biker:
“Being a biker is a way of life as much as it is riding a bike. You don't stop being a biker when your bike blows up and you spend a year or more rebuilding it. No, you're still you. Happy just to be alive. And we have our priorities straight. We don't dress to impress. We don't care if someone disagrees with our preference of Levis over Dockers or well-worn boots over Gucci’s.”
ILCC is officially a “no-colors zone,” as well as “neutral territory”, this statement is made in many publications put out by ILCC to remind those visiting that it is a place where violence will not be tolerated. One of the phrases at the festival I saw printed on someone’s shirt was: “No one here is a stranger, just a friend you haven’t met.” I enjoyed this phrase and it contrasts sharply to the common notion people think about bikers, that they are rude, aggressively violent, neo-Nazis. I had heard stories of good deeds done by the bikers, helping younger stranded campers find their group or offering work exchanges for someone that had arrived with no money or ticket (imagine that). I participated in the work exchange program at one of these festivals; we were served meals three times a day by a friendly “vegan chef” and intermingled with the biker staff. I was surprised at the vegan food and that all these other biker stereotypes were breaking down all around me.
Numerous music festivals are held at Indian Lookout Country Club touted as “the only country club exclusively for bikers”. The number one event at Indian Lookout Country Club is still the “Harley Davidson Rendezvous” or “the vouz,” as it is endearingly called by the bikers. Founded by Kemp O’Connell, who passed on in 1994, the tradition gets passed on to the younger generation as older bikers inevitably take “that last highway off ramp”. The good times spent in the nation state of ILCC will never be forgotten, a place where libertarian beliefs and basic respect are the foundation of a well functioning society.

Telepath | Contact: review

Listen to Telepath- toward peace off Contact
Listen to Telepath - and then it began off Contact

Telepath is a new band out of Philadelphia by way of North Carolina, which has been making waves in the live music scene with a unique blend of traditional and futuristic sounds. Telepath synthesizes eastern and western culture to create holistic, enchanting music.

This album contains a laundry list of different instruments from Asia to America, including keyboards, accordion, flute, sax, trumpet, dotar, sarangi, violin, trombone, shaker and computer generated elementals. I’m not going to Google all those instruments for you, but the exotic sounds will make you want to look them up yourself.

In this digital post-packaging age I’m glad to see attention still given to album artwork. The album cover art done by Carl Bender is a collage done with modern graphic design techniques. The design pieces together iconic imagery from India; including a sadhu, a rhino, a monkey and a small, cramped, three wheeled automobile, overflowing with about 13 people.

Telepath is starting to make themselves known at festivals and among fans of live electronica as they carve for themselves their own niche in live music. The loose knit music scene that makes up live electronica has gotten recognition from NYC to Tokyo for live performances of ambient, electronic dance music, which combines DJ equipment and traditional rock instruments. Telepath sets themselves apart from other live electronica bands by incorporating indigenous and ethnic sounds. Contact is one complete work of art, with songs that segue seamlessly into each other. There is a huge variety of sounds on this album, which serves the intent stated on the liner notes, to preserve a “spirit of unity.” The diversity of instruments on the album reinforces this broadened worldview.
This band has everything it takes to be the next big thing in electronic live music, the most important being the music itself. Telepath has a mellow, melodic level of playing together that can only be compared to some of Sound Tribe Sector Nine’s most impressive performances.

The song structures layer phrase upon phrase, with the masterful production skill of a veteran DJ. On Contact, Telepath constructs, quality compositions, drawing influences from both the best DJ’s and live bands. “Toward Peace” is one of these soothing, melodic songs that the band specializes in. The track starts off with a catchy, synth loop, tribal drums are then layered on top, followed by a unique bass line and elementals. Sequential loops of instrumentals, including soothing flutes are added, until the song takes off and then slowly cools down. The song feels like it’s breathing as it slowly rocks you.

This was an exciting year for Telepath with impressive performances at both Camp Bisco and Trinumeral. From when they first emerged on the national scale at the Echo Project, this band has rapidly won fans. Telepath gives the live music patron what they need with soothing, upbeat, danceable music. Music that fits in just as well at a club as it does at a rock oriented music festival or a spiritual retreat.

Gil Scott Heron Legend on Parole

Gil Scott Heron Plays S.OB's on 01/18/09 S.O.B.'s, here is some interesting biographical info on the artist including why this performance is special. not only has the man helped push MLK Junior's Birthday to become a national holiday, but he's always getting arrested and the angry police officers seem to try to be keeping from performing! so catch him while you can he is truly and american institution, a legend and if you don't know why he is so important and famous read about him what follows is the action that has been going on in his later years leading up to tomorrows S.OB's show.

In 2001, Gil Scott-Heron was sentenced to one to three years' imprisonment in New York State for possession of cocaine. While out of jail in 2002, he appeared on the Blazing Arrow album by Blackalicious. He was released on parole in 2003. On July 5, 2006, Scott-Heron was sentenced to two to four years in a New York State prison for violating a plea deal on a drug-possession charge by leaving a drug rehabilitation center. Scott-Heron admitted he is HIV-positive and claimed the in-patient drug treatment center stopped giving him his medication. Scott-Heron's sentence was to run until July 13, 2009. He was paroled on May 23, 2007.[10]

After his release, Scott-Heron began performing live again, starting with a show at SOBs in New York on September 13, 2007. On stage, he stated that he and his musicians were working on a new album and that he had resumed writing a book titled The Last Holiday (previously on long-term hiatus) about Stevie Wonder and his successful attempt to have the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. declared a federally recognized holiday in the United States. However, Scott-Heron was arrested October 10, the day before a second SOBs performance scheduled for October 11, 2007, on felony possession of cocaine charges. However, he has continued to make live appearances at various US venues during the course of 2008, including further appearances at SOBs in New York. He has also stated in interviews that work is continuing on his new album, which will consist mainly of new versions of some of his classic songs plus some cover versions of other artists' work.

Mark T. Watson, a student of Scott-Heron's work, dedicated a collection of poetry to Gil titled Ordinary Guy that contained a foreword by Jalal Mansur Nuriddin of The Last Poets. The book was published in the UK in 2004 by Fore-Word Press Ltd. Scott-Heron recorded one of the poems in Watson's book Black & Blue due for release in 2008 as part of the album Rhythms of the Diaspora by Malik & the OG's on the record label CPR Recordings.

Barack Obama Selects the Dead for Inaugural Ball

This story via Rolling Stone today, he has admitted to having some Dead on his iPod, when the Dead did their reunion concert in honor of Barack, ending up raising piles of cash and heaps of heady awareness. Barack Obama appeared on a screen via sattalite at the concert, but it appears he wants a more personal celebration with the multi colored all American Institution.

Another pitfall of political rocking: a background check. “It gave me pause when I had to get a security clearance to play a gig!” Hart says. So did they get past the security scan? “Oh, yeah, we don’t look so bad on paper. It’s not as bad as you might think.”

this update:

Other recent additions to the inaugural festivities include: The Derek Trucks Band with Susan Tedeschi and Wil Gravatt Band at the Southern Ball Common, Jack Johnson and Don Cagen Orchestra at the President Obama Home States Ball, Maroon 5 at the Vice President Biden Home States Ball, Sheryl Crow and Fabulous Motown Revue at the Midwestern Ball, James Taylor and Liquid Pleasure with Kenny Mann at the Eastern Ball. More musicians at the official Obama party ( the one Obama will actually be at) include Bruce Springsteen to Beyonce to John Mellencamp to Usher to Bettye LaVette, Stevie Wonder and Bono.

Allman Brothers 40th Aniversary Without Dickey

This post comes via those musical bad ass at hidden tracks.

Gregg Allman Says no to Dickey Betts and that he won't be a part of the 40th Anniversary Run at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on March 8 - 21. We are all holding out hope that the tide may change, but it's not looking good. During my time in Florida I had a friend who's dad was friends with the band. We got back stage passes to Wannee, and let me tell you it was like no backstage I have ever been to, there was a STRICTLY enforced NO DRUGS allowed rule back stage, and the ship was run pretty tight. I respect Gregg and his sobriety and understand that Dickey left do to issues with his drugs and alcohol, but it seems that Dickey has learned some extents of moderation in his golden years and that they could both drop their southern pride and make some music that made them famous. I meen this new band is great but it's not the Allman Brothers. The Allmans were Peak'n when it was Dickey, Duanne and Gregg. and Dickey really carried the torch for the signature style and wrote so many of their great songs. Songs that go Beyond personal arguments and should unify us on a higher level. All I can say is that I am holding out hope that these two may make beautiful music together again and celebrate the bands history like they keep saying this 40th aniversary will be.

dickey talking about being ousted from the band here

Gregg told Ross Cat of BestofWNY.com that Betts is a no…

Ross CAT -The rumor mill is churning that artists like ERIC CLAPTON, ARETHA FRANKLIN and BOZ SCAGGS will join in the celebration of the ALLMAN BROTHERS music as well as honoring founding member your late great brother DUANE ALLMAN.

Is there any chance during the 40th anniversary tour that DICKEY BETTS will be welcomed back to perform with the band if even for just one night?

Gregg ALLMAN - There is no chance that DICKEY BETTS will ever be involved with anything to do with the ALLMAN BROTHERS Band; we’ve been down that road too many times and it just wouldn’t work.

These guests best remembered for playing with Duanne will be appreciated though, and the rumors are flying that Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton and/or Boz Scaggs may show.

police shoot man in the back execution style on subway

http://carlosmiller.com/2009/01/09/new-video-of-bart-shooting-emerges-offering-clearest-view-so-far-and-audio/

By Carlos Miller
Seconds before the shooting, you can see three cops hovering around Oscar Grant.

BART police officer Johannes Mehserle appears to be trying to handcuff him. A second cop appears to have his knee on Grant’s back while having some kind of conversation with another handcuffed suspect who is on his knees. The third cop has his hand on this suspect’s shoulder and looks like he is speaking into his radio.

A female is standing inside the train filming the incident. You can hear her tell somebody, “baby, I’m fine, I’m just recording.”

Then you hear a man’s voice from inside the train: “You gotta take pictures of that shit ….”

Although Mehserle appears to be having some type of struggle with Grant, the cop with his knee on Grant’s back is blocking the view. The more I’ve watched this video, the more it seems as if Mehserle is trying to pull something out of his belt. Perhaps handcuffs. Perhaps a Taser. Perhaps a gun.

Someone from inside the train yells, “Hey, that’s fucked up.”

I couldn’t see any movement from Grant at all. There was much more of a struggle from the Don’t Tase Me, Bro guy.

The cop with his knee on Grant’s back suddenly senses some type of struggle and forces Grant’s face into the floor.

Somebody from inside the train yells, “let him go, what the fuck.”

Suddenly Mehserle stands up, pulls his gun out and shoots Grant in the back.

And when the second cop stands up, you can briefly see Grant’s hands were behind his back.

fake button pushers

this is the best site i have found yet
http://www.deadact.com/

DeadAct.com is an online archive of videos found in the public domain that show electronic performers blatantly faking their "live set".

To qualify as a Dead Act, the performer must have pre set out their performance in such a way that if they were to drop dead, the set would keep playing on as normal. Bonus points for fake knob tweaking, failed attempts to play real instruments , and good orgasm faces.

Sony's Acid and why its Ill

There are a lot of stories to be told about multi track recording and editing. Basically, the idea is that you can record different instruments on separate tracks and edit them separately in order to achieve the best results when they will be heard by the listener as "music". Most of us enjoy music, but only few are aware about the amount of work needed from recording to the final delivery on CD or DVD.
When you think about the best music production software what comes to mind, the big three Reason, Logic and Acid, for the price I have concluded that Acid is the best. As an independent musician with ripe prospects and a bright future ahead of me I have run the gamut of trial softwares, dabbled with illegal copies, but that has gotten me nothing but trouble. Virus’s paranoia and questionable glances from professional music colleagues. If your looking to step up your game with music its time you buy a licensed copy of a serious piece of software like Acid. The interface is easy to understand and the learning curve is less steep then Logic or Reason. Those that used a multi track editing program like Cakewalk SONAR or Steinberg Cubase will find Acid's interface easy to work with. Acid starts loading a demo song that you can play with. There are some areas of the interface easy to distinguish, but before getting to them I will say that if you want your interface to look and feel different, this is no problem. All panels are easy to resize, move or hide. To see what items can be shown or hidden, you can go ahead and check the View menu. The main program window is divided into four areas. These are the toolbar, the track list, the timeline and the window docking area. Only the toolbar has a fixed size and position, the others can be moved around and resized as you wish. If you need information about any item that can be found in Acid, press Shift-F1 and click on that item. The toolbar contains buttons enabling you to access most used commands faster. It can be customized as you want by adding, removing or reordering them. Acid is used by pretty much every genre, my favorite being Jazz and Bluegrass. I was turned on to the software actually by an electronic music producer, of albums in NYC, who’s name I won’t use because he has been my friends since we were youths. He showed me how to use this software and I just ran with it, it was a matter of time before I started saving up and bought the full version. I have not looked back since and have been producing my own tracks, and am ready to create my own album. Watch for it soon, I might just surprise you when you hear my song on the radio.
