Dear friends,
This past week marked the first anniversary of CoSM in the Hudson Valley. It has been a year of upheaval, orientation and transformation. Within this year, CoSM has activated the end of one era and launched a new phase. CoSM in Manhattan was a five-year experiment we often called "the living brochure," meaning that we wanted to see if a sacred space exhibiting the art of Alex Grey and other visionary artists could sustain a presence with support from a community. The answer was a resounding "YES!" In the final weeks in the Manhattan location, record numbers of visitors streamed into the galleries so as not to miss Phase One of CoSM -- the living brochure.
On our first anniversary we look back on this year filled with struggles and so many blessings. At our new home in the Hudson Valley, there is still so much building and improving ahead, even after an intensive year of massive renovations on the office, shipping department, studios, and guest house (including a cafe, dining hall and store). Extraordinary, devoted staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to make CoSM structures welcoming. CoSM has been experiencing metamorphosis, transforming from a cabaret/gallery environment in the city to a tranquil spiritual art retreat center. Full moon ceremonies are better than ever with our added ability to SEE A MOON! And stars... And trees.... And gaze into fire. Consider joining us for an upcoming event or workshop and if you cannot, please gaze at the moon with us wherever you are and send a loving thought to CoSM. Pray with us that the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors will manifest as an enduring and uplifing sacred site. Now in Phase Two, the most important and exciting project is on the horizon -- the creation of a new installation of the Sacred Mirrors art collection, making this precious body of work once again available to everyone.
If you are moved by this vision consider becoming a monthly donor. Monthly donors are the financial family of CoSM, people who take a stand every month to support this vision. Your support is needed now. Thirty dollars each month, just one dollar a day from all who have been touched by this project, can create a financial ground on which to build a sacred site. Another way to support CoSM is to purchase gifts from our new online store. Sharing CoSM gifts with loved ones means sharing a vision of creative spirit. All proceeds from the store support CoSM.
This is a New Year for many people. It is the start of the school year. It is the beginning of the Jewish lunar calendar. It is a time of assessment and commitment to our ideals and to fulfilling our dreams. Blessings on your creative path. Thank you for opening this message and caring about what is going on at CoSM. Co-create with us the realization of sacred space by visioning this dream into being.
Love,
Alex and Allyson
