Here's one for the Deadheads...

Donna Jean Godchaux, the only female member ever in the Grateful Dead, has been making her way around the country this summer with her new band, Donna Jean Godchaux Band featuring Jeff Mattson. Playing at Festivals like GOTV and the upcoming Grateful Dead fest, the band will be heading to Sullivan Hall this Friday, August 21st.

Donna Jean sang with the Grateful Dead from '71-'79, joining her husband and keyboardist Keith Godchaux. You can check out a video of the boys (and girl) performing Scarlet Begonias in '77 here.

Aside from her run with the Grateful Dead, Donna Jean played with the Jerry Garcia Band, Heart of Gold Band, and appeared on tracks such as Elvis Presley's "Suspicious Minds" and Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman." Jeff Mattson, guitarist, is also the lead guitarist of Long Island's legandary Grateful Dead influenced jamband, The Zen Tricksters.

They'll be performing some soulful originals, and of course, a whole lotta Grateful Dead favorites... so take the trip and check em out.
