Sat. Apr. 4 Toubab Krewe with special guest Josh Dion

$15/9pm Blending American and West African influences into a sound all its own, Toubab Krewe has set "a new standard for fusions of rock 'n' roll and West African music" (Afropop Worlwide). Since forming in 2005, the magnetic instrumental quintet has won a diverse and devoted following at performances everywhere from Bonnaroo to the legendary Festival of the Desert in Essakane, Mali, known as the most remote festival in the world. They developed their unique sound over the course of numerous extended trips to Mali, Guinea, and Ivory Coast, where they immersed themselves in the local culture and studied and performed with luminaries.

$20adv $25dos/8pm Led by legendary trombonist/composer/arranger Fred Wesley, the "Genius behind the Godfather of Soul" during James Brown's funkiest years, this band's performances are pure jazz-funk groove explosions. The author of "Hit Me Fred: Recollections of a Side Man" (Duke University Press 2002), Fred has assembled a tight band of stellar musicians who maintain the high standards Early Show in jazz and funk for which he's known worldwide.

$18 adv $20 dos/8:30pm Cyril Neville is a percussionist and vocalist who first came to prominence as a member of his brother Art Neville's funky New Orleans-based band, The Meters. He joined Art in the prestigious Neville Brothers band upon the dissolution of the Meters. He has appeared on recordings by Bob Dylan, Robbie Robertson, Edie Brickell, Willie Nelson, Dr. John and The New Orleans Social Club (among others).

The North Indiana All Stars are a modern day improvisational supergroup. The band features three members of Umphrey's McGee (Jake Cinninger, guitar; Kris Myers, drums; Joel Cummins, keyboards), Tony Franklin (The Firm, David Gilmour) on bass and Willie Waldman (Banyan, Snoop Dogg) on trumpet and general enthusiasm. They embrace the moment with on-the-spot compositions, which are often fueled by the intense, driving rhythms of Franklin and Myers. Melodic, uptempo and danceable, the music of the North Indiana All Stars is a not-to-be-missed live experience. Other guests that have performed with the band include John Avila (Oingo Boingo) and Jim Loughlin (moe.).



New York City's own U-Melt will be re-uniting with Wyllys on a progressive series of events that touch on different aspects of electronic music. The two artists will perform interlocking sets with the middle set focused on particular styles of beats native to the areas they play. In Chicago this past December, U-Melt and Wyllys riffed on legendary Chicago house music by covering Groove Armada and Rhinocerus. On April 10th in New York City at BB Kings, U-Melt and Wyllys will drop some drum and bass like they use to at Concrete Jungle.
