Green Apple Festival, Deep Banana Blackout NYC

Earth Day is coming and HeadCount is proud to team up with Green Apple Festival and Earth Day Network to support volunteer actions around the country - capped off by a musical celebration. Green Apple Festival is staging simultaneous events in ten U.S. cities over Earth Day Weekend, April 17 - 19, that will focus on environmental volunteerism. Participate in one of the volunteer events and you'll also get to attend a private "Thank You" concert for volunteers on Sunday, April 19.

In less than four years, Green Apple Festival has become the premier environmental musical event in America. Previous performers have included The Roots, O.A.R., Guster, Umphrey's McGee, and The Disco Biscuits.

This year's event will include three components:

  • Earth Day on the National Mall: A large-scale free Earth Day Festival with music, entertainment, speakers and environmental activities will take place on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Sunday, April 19, 2009

  • Volunteer Actions in ten cities: These projects in parks, beaches, schools and forests will focus on climate change solutions like tree planting, energy efficiency retrofits, water protection, urban gardens and forest restoration

  • Thank You Concerts: Volunteers will receive free entry to concerts in popular music venues in all cities on April 19 (artists and venues to be announced)

The ten cities are:

Atlanta
Austin
Boston
Chicago
Denver
Los Angeles
New York City
