About Vorcan Art

the ideas that we try and stress is the collaborative identity, Vort and I (Cank) paint live during a musical performance on the same canvas, never conjuring an idea of what it is we are going to paint before hand. We try to keep creating completely fresh and improvised just like most of the live music we paint. we travel throughout the country painting all genre's of music anywhere we are able. We have painted a variety of music ranging from the Gza to The Whigs to Yonder Mountain String Band....running the gamut of styles of music. No painting is ever the same because of this. We have traveled through all 50 States and 13 Countries in the past 2 years.
The most important point about VORCAN however, is our goal to inspire and bring art out of the gallery and to the people. While we have no problem showing our work in a gallery, (and are very excited about our first L.A. show in March) we feel that getting our art out to the general public, making it affordable to someone who normally would not be able to buy original art, and to inspire people to never put down the paint brush is our most important mission. We strive to be more collector driven than gallery driven. We encourage buyers of VORCAN art to follow along as we continue to tour the country and progress, keeping the idea of painting live music fresh and exciting. Keeping our paintings at an affordable price point has allowed us to sell over 400 VORCAN originals in the past 2 years, to a variety of collectors throughout the country. We created 50DollarLunch.com so collectors old and new can frequently check up on us and see what adventure we are on and whom we are painting at the moment.

Vorgans newest press release

In October 2006, two prolific artists, Vort and Cank, started an art production company and abstract consulting firm called VORCAN.com. Based in Philadelphia, they set out to change the art world by collaboratively painting live music of all genres in a variety of venues and events throughout the East Coast, focusing on Philadelphia and New York City. Using the music and environment as inspiration, Vort and Cank, create collaborative fine art.

Rather than being gallery driven. VORCAN focus on their collectors.

VORCAN have painted over 400 events in The United States and across Europe. In addition to painting live music, Vort and Cank paint regularly in the studio. Often taking their “Painting Live Music” performances to collector's homes for commission, creating the painting in front of the collector.

To learn more about the history of the artists involved, VORCAN's past paintings, as well as videos of past “Painting Live Music” performances, please visit www.VORCAN.com.

50DollarLunch.com... the best way to add a VORCAN original to your collection! On 50DollarLunch.com, a new painting is posted for $50 every weekday. The first person to comment on the painting before the next lunch is posted gets the painting for $50. 50DollarLunch.com not only features VORCAN original paintings, also news about their daily happenings and upcoming events.

On March 15, 2008 VORCAN embarked on their most ambitious adventure to date. They created 50 Paintings, in 50 states, in 50 days. The adventure is posted on 50dollarlunch.com All 50 state paintings will be toured back through all 50 states in year 3.with limited prints being released.

After the 50/50/50 Cank moved to Portland and focused on West Coast Festivals. Vort returned to Philadelphia painting in Love Park, then up and down the East Coast. In Early August Vort and Cank joined forces again to secure their presence on the West Coast. VORCAN will be returning to the East Coast in November. They look forward to spending New Year's Eve with The Bridge in Baltimore. Then back to the West Coast in January. Hawaii, London, and a Gallery show in LA.
